![]() This weekend while Chris was out of town I decided to surprise him with an all new office. I have taken over most of the house and more importantly his garage, so he needs to have a room. You would think the project sounds fun, but may I point out I had less than 24 hours, and the "new" space was still my sons bedroom, complete with queen bed, a book collection, a camera collection and lots of dust bunnies! Forward past me sweating and dragging out the bed, boxing books and cleaning.... PAINT!! I ran to Home Depot then got to work. ![]() I had been planning on doing this re-do someday in the future so I had already started collecting a few fun things. My hubby is a huge car buff, so at different flea markets I found these cool old car mirrors. ![]() I had also located these drawings he had done when he was 12 years old. Super awesome cars and trucks. I scanned and printed out copies to frame so I wouldn't lose the awesome originals (thanks for the advice Cam!) I'm sooooo happy I did this because it ended up being Chris's favorite thing about the whole room! ![]() I also dug out his childhood toy box and filled the now cleared book shelves with his old cars and trucks. I have no idea about which is which, and I simply picked what was large and colorful.... but Chris informed me he may change some out for his "favorites". A boy and his toys..... ![]() By about midnight I was making this industrial looking light for his room out of an old fishing basket I had picked up who knows where, drug upstairs his favorite chair, then added a great piece of art work I had just purchased earlier in the day at Art-A-Palooza in Green. The photo on canvas is what had spurred me on and made me just go for it while he was gone. I love it! ![]() The photo is of vintage oil cans, with just the right amount of rust and great pops of bright colors. Art work is by Diana Dreibelbis of Old Nankin Road Photos and her work is wonderful! I had such a hard time choosing what to hang but in the end I had to go with the oil cans because it went along great with the car theme. I have to thank my young and strong neighbors for helping me move the desk.... did you see how huge that thing is?? I was literally hanging the light 30 minutes before Chris pulled in the driveway. He was absolutely surprised and thrilled! I found him just sitting in there all alone last night, and he had the dog guarding the door to keep me out! haha Now I just have this one little problem..... this is where I emptied that room....oops!
