Exterior Make-Over Reveal

I don't love my house. Never have.  After 19 years in this home we were still looking for a way to love the exterior appearance of a 1969 split level. We just may have done it!  PAINTED BRICK!

We love our little half acre with it's huge trees and woods.  We also love the interior, as we have gutted, removed walls or updated every single room over the past few decades.  The inside is finally done.... but without major construction you can't make a split level look any better.... or so we thought!

We fell in love with a painted brick bungalow last winter and didn't have the courage (or time) to try to sell and go after this cute house.  We also loved the bungalows painted brick, and this gave us the idea to make a change to our house.   We chose a shade just a little darker than our siding, and also updated the shutter color to charcoal, something a little more modern.

All of the sudden our landscaping showed up, and I think the house even looked larger! In the before photo you can barely see that I have ferns and a bench on the porch, but now they show up from the street.

The broken up split level look has been a little more unified, and while it's still a 1969 split level, it does have a fresher updated look.
Happy me!

Now on to updating our drab porch furniture and cushions.... hopefully before winter?

Looks awesome. Paint can be a relatively inexpensive change. I like the softer color on the shutters too. Very impressive.

Looks great! We've been thinking of painting our brick too. Can you tell me what color you used & if you did it yourself (or if not-who you hired)? Thanks!

Lynn, The color was a custom mix I came up with. We did hire someone to do it. Our friend owns a painting company. https://www.facebook.com/pages/RejuvePAINT/213144985368664

Love the change! We have a ranch with partial brick and I want to do the same thing you did. You have a great look and you didn't have closing costs and have to pack and move. Congrats! Good luck with your porch furniture.
